PLACING TEXT IN PAGEMAKER 6.0 (Macintosh)

In this module you'll learn how to place text and link it across the pages in your intended publication.

1.Let's assume you have created a series of Master Pages of A4 (or other size) with a number of columns (3 is convenient for design purposes). Publication pages can now be created through Layout: Insert Pages. Now it's time to introduce or place text on these pages.

2. Choose File> Place. Select the file you want to import, selecting the import options, and then click OK.

3. The cursor changes to a loaded text icon.

Place the icon in position in the column of a publication page and click. The column will be filled. Icons will appear at the top and bottom of the placed text. The top icon with an empty loop will indicate that this is where the article began. The bottom icon containing a red arrow head indicates that there is more text to be placed in other columns.

4. Click on the red arrow head and the cursor will change once again into the loaded text icon. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the final bottom icon is once more an empty loop.

5. Look at the bottom icons once more. As each column was placed the bottom loop icon changed to show a + sign (indicating that the text continues elsewhere.

It will be necessary on occasions to indicate to the readers that the article is continued on page whatever!).

Note: 1.The range of import filters for PageMaker is extensive. Look at this list:

2. Sometimes you may shrink a column of text from the bottom up so that you can move it elsewhere. The icon will then look like this!

3. Remember that additional text titlescan be created in adjoining columns using the T tool to draw text boxes. These will have the following appearance:
