Modern Geographic Map of Egypt

The geographic borders of Egypt have remained fairly constant since the Old Kingdom, not including the periods where Egypt became imperial in the middle & new kingdoms. In these periods, the Egyptian Empire extended south into Nubia, & north-east into Syria.

Many of Egypt's population still live in the cities that sit along the River Nile.

Notice the new addition to the Nile: Lake Nasser. This lake is the result of a recent addition to the Nile called the Aswan Damn. The damn regulates the flow of water from the Blue & White Niles through Egypt, preventing excess flooding and famine alike.

Large, Ancient Egyptian statues had to be moved to higher ground at the time of its construction, as the man-made lake would have seen them go underwater if they had not been moved.
