Four elements are
- Acquisition
- Development
-Maintenance
- Separation
ACQUISITION: Involves 3 key stages: 1 identify future staffing needs
2 recruiting potential job canidates
3 selecting the best possible person
DEVELOPMENT: involves: training (on the jo, or off the job)
recording employees in database - details, wage/salary, training, performance, taxes on behalf of employee, record of attendance
MAINTENANCE: Once employees are acquired you want to keep them and have them working productively. Therefore you offer . . .
monetary/non-monetary benefits: mobile phones, company cars, free food, work picnics - free stuff to make them happy and feel needed
motivation is also needed and can be given again in the form of benefits such as employee of the month and the like
performance appraisals also help as it keeps employees working as they know they may be being appraised and it also helps to find potential employees for promotion
SEPARATION: there is voluntary and involuntary separation. Voluntary is retirement, or just quitting to go somewhere else or take a break
involuntary is when they are with fired because they are not doing there job well or are made redundant as there job no longer exists - replaced by a machine
after separation the process would repeat again
