Don’t Forget the Washing Up!

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I have to leave soon because my kids have to be picked up from after school care, but before I go I need to mark spelling and homework so I don’t have to cart sixty books home. I had better plan my week so I have everything I need because I know next week is going to be a pretty heavy one. There is so much happening.

As I look over the week that has just gone I realise it will not be that different.

The week started off with a long morning asembly that contained announcements about everything from statewide competeition in maths and english, sport, choir, lost property, p and c fundraising and reminders about wearing school uniform. This put us behind with our ‘routine’ spelling lesson to begin with. I see that I have a lot to catch up on next week.

Monday continued in the same vein with our Maths lesson being interrupted by the year sixes in my 5/6 composite class being removed to go through some of their leadership responsibilities as the senior members of the school. To make matters worse I was in the bad books with the clerical staff fro not counting and recording the money that my class had paid for textbooks and gymnastics this term. Usually they like it well before recess. When I as on playground duty at lunch I stayed longer than expected because the teacher that was to relieve me for the second half of lunch was late due to a queue at the photocopier. This did not allow me time to finish the homework sheets which have to go home that afternoon.

On Tuesday it rained! Water came down our walls again beause of guttering problems that have not been fixed yet. It spoilt quite a few projects that the students had done which sent one student into tears. Rainy days mean exra duties so I had an unplanned lunch duty which prevented me from preparing the science lesson I had planned for that afternoon. During our half an hour of scripture I needed to meet with my year supervisor to go over my program for this term. Although she was impressed with my program and preperation, she mentioned that I had not included bike education and road safety education. I felt relieved that my program was good as I had spent the last two weekends writing most of it.

Although I felt a little sick on Wednesday ( a nasty virus was going around the class) I went along anyway as I had so much to do and knew that I had RFF time beween recess and lunch. This would give me the opportunity to complete this terms sports organisation for the primary section of the school. I am Mathematics Coordinator so I also had to order some maths equiptment and get the maths storeroom into order.

Thursday I was feeling a little better but needed to be at school early for a weekly staff meeting. I was late because my son was upset about being left at preschool. The rest of the day went quite well until hometime when Mrs Ng saw me about her child being teased by some of the other children in the class because he does not understand the rules of soccer and they say he spoils their lunch time games. Consequently, I was late in picking my son up from preschool again.

Today has been a fairly ‘routine’ Friday. I have collected homework, given weekly spelling test and dictation, caught up on maths from earlier in the week. Inter school (PSSA) sport went well as we finally won a game even though we missed traing on Tuesday because of the rain, and had no complaints about my referreeing from parents on the sideline.

Oh, no! The principal has just arrived at the door. Seems I have forgotten to do my staffroom washing up duty all week! I will have to do that now before I go home.
