Egypt is situated in the top right corner of the African continent. It has seas on two of its borders, the Red Sea to the east and the mighty Mediterranean Sea to the north. |

The River Nile runs through Egypt's vast deserts, roughly from south to north. The river originates from the Blue Nile & the White Nile, deep within the Ethiopian highlands, and floods once a year, produucing the rich farmland that lies on either side of the river's banks. Fishing in the Nile was a common site, and still is now. The types of fish caught today are the same as the types depicted on Old Kingdom inscriptions. The old kingdom favourite was Mullet, and it still is in modern day Cairo. Not all fish were used for food however, as some, such as catfish, were used for medicinal purposes. |
