Macbeth is a wonderful character, though personally I prefer Lady Macbeth. Macbeth is not what I would describe as a very 'strong' character, his wife tends to tell him what to do for a fair bit of the play, but I would not call Macbeth boring. He in an interesting character for the very reason that he is one of few characters that does rely heavily upon a female (in this case his wife) for guidance. Another of Shakespeare's characters that fits this description is ALBANY from KING LEAR. He is described as 'milky' by his wife which is in the play is an insult to ALBANY -calling him a weak person. The difference between ALBANY and Macbeth is that Macbeth listens to his wife and suffers as a result. ALBANY is a stronger character because he chooses not to become like his wife. Macbeth by contrast chooses to go to his wife initially. Passionate is not really a word I would use to describe Macbeth, but going from passionate to boring is an incredibly narrow way of looking at any character. Macbeth is in my opinion misguided, weak (in the sense that he feels the need to justify himself to his wife who should accept him as he is. Still, some might call Macbeth heroic, never in my experience has Macbeth been referred toas boring. I hope I have helped you some.

Macbeth is far from boring. I do agree with Emma about how Macbeth seems to do just as his wife tells him. I would however argue with her over which of the two characters is more tolerable, i definitly don't prefer Lady Macbeth over Macbeth. To me she always came across as a bossy mother figure.

From what I understand, Lady Macbeth is headstrong but Macbeth has his say as well. Macbeth caused alot of problems but then was loved by all.
