I have been considering the actors i would be using in my recent film production of Macbeth and have quiered on this thought for a while. I was wondering if anybody would be able to help, or give me a few ideas. For the main role of Macbeth i wanted a person with a gaunt looking face, that has a mean but powerful look. Jim Carrey was my first pick but, i am a bit weary of using him as he has played many comical roles before and i am not sure the people watching this film would take him serioulsy. Lady Macbeth on the other hand, is another story. In the book she portrays a woman that uses her beauty to capture other people. I want her to be powerful, but also beautiful. I want Lady Macbeth to seem like the holder of the house. Thanks for reading this, i will consider any of your requests. Tamara

Hi Tamara,
I have a few ideas for the character of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.
As you requested a character with a gaunt, mean but powerful face Guy Pearce came to mind. He has been in some really good movies lately including the Count of Mounte Cristo, The Time Machine and Memento. He is the type of character that can mould into an evil or fun role.
Other characters that could also be good are John Cusack who starred in Serendipity, America’s Sweethearts and High Fidelity; Christian Slater who starred in interview with a vampire, very bed things and Zoolander; Ben Affleck who starred in Shakespeare in love, Phantoms and Pearl harbour. Even though Ben isn’t gaunt he still could look good.
Lady Macbeth could be played by Kate Beckinsale who is a powerful, strong yet beautiful women, some of her movie roles includes Much ado about nothing and Pearl Harbour; Nicole Kidman could fit the mould similarly to the roles she played in Portrait of a Lady and Practical Magic…etc… Lastly I thought Uma Thurman (she starred in Pulp Fiction, Les Miserables and The Avengers..Etc..)
All the characters were chosen by age and look. I hope I have given you some ideas to work with.
Bye for now.
