What do you think are the essential qualities that an actor for Macbeth needs? I think he should have a strong build and striking features but i'm not sure about qualities personality wise

I think you might thnik about the inherent flaws and features of the character of Mcbeth in order to establish the 'personality'. For example, do you think Mcbeth was inherently flawed and weak or do you think he had some good qualities? ANd what are these? Also you might like to consider the personality of Macbeth in relation to the other characters, especially Lady Macbeth. Is his personality the way it is because of the qualities and the influences of the characters with whom he interacts, and who essentially act upon him? Does he do what he does, and is he how he appears because of himself alone, or because of the influence of the others and of the way the situations (esp. the political issues and the meeting with the witches) unfold? Do you see these things as influencing him, conspiring against him, or do you think he is morally strong and not influenced? In a way I see Macbeth as a paradoxical character. He needs to look the part, after all the play is called 'Macbeth'. But at the same time, he seems to lose power and Lady Macbeth takes on a type of strength and presence that seems to overpower his character. You are right that physically Macbeth seems as if he would look stong and masculine so not a wimp for an actor! But do you think he would be Arnie or Sylvester strong -all brawn, or do you think he might also be psychologically strong-with brains as well (to some extent)? I can't really think of someone exact for this role, maybe that Australian actor-Anthony Lapalia(the guy in Looking for Alibrandi)??
