Historian are interested in this topic. Many history teachers use this teaching method in schools without actually knowing that they do. The reason for it is that historians understand the construction of knowledge as the search for evidence about historical events (for example) that may lead to a greater understanding of why certain things happended in the way they did. Therefore the construction of knowledge is specifically a personel process of discovery that focuses on the methodology and assumptions that underpin it. It is argueable that this process is slightly different in mathematics and science unless one subscribes to a scientific theory of investigating historical facts ( for example - forensic science in anthropology or carbon dating of artifacts).
