LOTE so far so good

L.O.T.E

Lote so far has been good, I'm sorry if my singing voice offended others in the class.
The other day I read Sue's book Obentoo a Japanese book for year 7's and I found it so different from the text book that I used in year 7. The pictures in Sue's book were nice. I was wondering what you guys thought of the text books you used when learning different languages. What kind of books helped you learn the language better.

I used the book "Ishoni" when studying Japanese at High School. The lessons were practical, using everyday situations which students could relate to, however, the format was boring - black and white on butchers paper - whereas the books I'm seeing in the LOTE course have large glossy colour photos which definitely brighten up the learning experience in my opinion. Also, I like the books which show interesting pictures of everyday life and culture in the country of the target language... I think students should be learning more about the country of their target language... I noticed that alot of the newer Japanese texts were incorporating more of this into their lessons.

Obentoo is a good text book and very visually stimulating, but are there any criticisms of it? I'm curious to find out. Ludwig.
