Give a report on your tutoring here. perhaps two or three paragraphs.Make any comments, ask questions, raise problems. Also, comment on others reports. Return to the page a day or so later and make a response to others comments.A sample report could be as follows: I had my first lesson with Thuy. We started with a chat and talok about what she needed. Although we thought pronunciation she said grammar. We went through some work we had prepared and she asked some difficult questions I couldn't answer such as 'WHat is the difference betwqeen 'coming' and 'going' in English? We then went through the unit 6 on pronunciation very slowly. SHe likes understandiong how and why but it is hard to get her to practicse things. What do you suggest?

I have had four tutoring sessions with a 12 year old Korean girl named Ahsia. Her problem is apparently shyness. Her personality is not shy but she is unwilling to respond in English if she is unsure of the answer required. If a topic interests her, she will willing talk about it and is quite gregarious, willing to share information about herself, her experiences and her family and home country. We both enjoy exchanging words in our first languages and talking about language in general and i also use Japanese for further language comparison.
Our tutoring sessions consist of talk about mutual interests, study or revision of any set work or wokr for tests. In our second session we covered some basic verb tenses and question and answer forms so she could use then to talk about her interests. We now use these patterns every week.
The problem for us both is that it is difficult to sustain talk and "informal chats" for a long duration of time. Does anyone have any suggestions for activities that can promote conversation and english development at the same time? She retains information well and is willing to use new knowledge...
unfortunately they have two weeks off very soon and i have only just worked out how to access the computers.. but any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks and good luck with your own work

To: Everyone tutoring at Beverly Hills
The school counsellor for beverly hills is willing to talk to sydney uni students if they are interested or have any questions. However, she does not wish to deal with each one of us seperately and requests that all who are interested should organise themselves into a group before making appointments with her.
I am hoping to talk to her at some stage after their school holidays. If anyone else is interested please respond to this message and we will work something out.
thanks, Hope
