Maths Problem, please HELP

This is probably basic but I cant get my head around it d^2 y dy ---- +5 -- +6y = te^(-2t) dt^2 dt Solve using complementary function/particular integral approach. Use substitution y = z(t)e^(-2t) to simplify the equation. Integrate the resulting equation once with respect to t. The final first order equation for z may be solved using the CF/PI approach. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Someone Please help me figure out this simple math problem Three guys are hunting and get a hotel room for the night. It costs them 10 dollars a peice a night. The bell boy decides he charged them too much and gives them five dollars (each 1 dollar) back but keeps 2 for a tip for himself. $10 $10 $10 paid = $30 $1 $1 $1 got back = -$3 ------------------- ---- $9 $9 $9 have now = $27 *$9x3people=$27 $2 for bell boy = +$2 ---- $30-$3=$27 $27+$2=$29 $29 Where did the extra dollar go?

This is a very simple problem to solve but has baffled many people. It has been shown to PhD Math professors who have been stumped. However, when i showed it to my 10 year old sister she picked the problem out right away and solved it. I will not tell u the answer but i will give u a major clue. When adding and subtracting and multiplying together, never forget BEDMASS. Remember adding comes first then subtraction. Good LUCK

Ben... your problem is impossible. Where does the sub start? Is it in the water, our out? At the surface or already in a depth? Insufficient data. What direction is up in the ocean?

Caine: He charged them five dollars too much so the rooms were 25 dollars($8.33 each). So he owed them each $1.67. He gave them each $1 but took 67 cents from each of them as tip(67 cents * 3 = $2). The net result is that he took $1 from each of the 3 hunters and kept $2 as tips $30 - ($3 + $2) = $25, which is the total cost of the 3 rooms.
