Competency in the use of the
English language is a prerequisite for entry into the MTeach program.
Students who have completed their first degree in a country where
English is not the first language must be able to demonstrate their
competence in English. The minimum acceptable level of English
competency is indicated by a score of:
- at least 7.5 on the IELTS
test, with no band less than 7,
- level 4.5 or better on
the Australian Second Language Rating Scale
- level 4.5 or better on
TWE (Tests of Written English) or
- at least 80% on CULT
(Combined Universities Language Test) or
- 600 or better on TOEFL
(Tests of English as a Foreign Language)
- an equivalent score on
another accredited test, including those administered by the
Faculty of Education.
These tests may be done
through:
- the Institute of
Languages (University of New South Wales)
- Insearch Language Centre
(University of Technology, Sydney)
- NCELTR (Macquaire
University)
