What would you do if...?

• your overhead projector broke just when you were doing a lesson with Year 7 and some of their parents on Open Day Education Week?

• you booked the video room but had not previewed the video yourself and it was unsuitable for your Year 7 class.

• you are teaching WW1 ..... which you don't know about to . Year 11 and you leave all your notes at home and it is period 1 ..... 1 minute away.

• a parent complains about the topic (aboriginality, nuclear waste, gender, family roles) and materials that you are using.

• you are taking an excursion and the police arrest your Bus Driver after an altercation with a taxi driver (the Bus Driver parked in a Taxi Rank to let your kids off in the rain).

• you are asked to program a unit of work on Year 8 Australian History Course ..... you do not have a background in this Mandatory Question (Heritage) where do you start!

• you are programming Australian History for a group of students with learning difficulties, a colleague complains that the approach and materials are unsuitable, where do you go from here.

• you are accused by the Head Teacher of imposing your personal political views on your students (In the selection of content, discussion and approach and teaching) How do you resolve this issue?

• you arrive at the school. There are 16 classes of Year 7 and 8 Geography and Year 7 and 8 History and one class set of up to date texts. All other materials here produced before the 1980's. How do you resource your classes.

• you are a new History (Background Modern & Australian History) appointment in HSIE, all history classes have been allocated, you are asked to teach 2 new geography classes and Year 11 Business studies and Year 11 Ancient History. What would you do?

• you only junior classes up to Year 9, you seem to be tired all the time ..... you would like to teach senior Geography (your major at Uni.) However, there are very few senior classes and they are taught by the most experienced staff members. How do get a senior class.

• you are studying relationship's between aboriginal and non-aboriginal Australian in the mandatory section of the history syllabus. You decide to find this unit with a debate entitled Invasion or Settlement, everything goes wrong and the kids commence a riot. How should you prevent these situations from occurring?
